Devil Wears Prada blog

The Devil wears Prada... Where should I begin? This isn't one of my favor tie movies to watch, but I've been forced to watch it several times, by my mom and x-girlfriends. The main character Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway is a young up-and-coming journalist looking to land her first big job in New York City. She ends up trying to find a job at a big fashion magazine, which is funny because evidently she doesn't have sense of fashion. Miranda, played by Meryl Streep ends up giving her a job for some reason. The girls in the beginning of the film are a nice touch in my opinion. Defiantly a chick flick. Its no Notebook for me. hahaha

3:10 to Yuma

3:10 to Yuma is a newer western movie set in Arizona right after the civil war. Dan Evans, a civil war veteran that lost a leg is trying to make a living as a cattle rancher. He's in financial trouble and is desperate for money. He stumbles into outlaw Ben Wade robbing a stage coach, after this meeting he later runs into him in town and stalls him long enough to be captured by the law. Dan agrees to help take the outlaw to Yuma to catch the 3:10 in exchange for $200. There are many twists in there journey. The final gunfight is an epic one.
I would like to start off by saying 3:10 to Yuma is one of the best westerns I've ever seen. I really enjoyed this movie in its entirity. There were a few exciting gun fights, action around every corner, and the story was easy to follow. One of the main characters, a cattle rancher that lost his leg in the civil war, ends up being a hero in the end and saving his family's ranch. Ben Wade, a blood thirsty outlaw, ends up being a very cool character and isn't nearly as bad as he's cracked up to be.

Personal testimony and counter argument

I've always thought that the anti-smoking TRUTH commercials were crazy. Most are so dumb they make me want to start smoking. I'm not a smoker, its unhealthy and not a great habit to have. But with lame commercials always playing could it really prevent kids from picking up the habit? I've chosen a hilarious anti-smoking commercial on YouTube that's so dumb I actually think its good. I mean who doesn't want to go to a party that's been hot-boxed in cig smoke? Check out the video if you haven't already. There has to better ways to get people to stop smoking, the TRUTH commercials are kind of a step in the right direction, but since smoking is dumb, maybe we need a dumb anti-smoking commercial to do the trick.

Making a meaning

I'm going to write a paper on the following video:

Its a funny anti smoking ad. I'm not a hugh fan of smoking and have some interesting idea's for a paper. I find all the anti smoking ad's entertaining, but they almost make me want to start smoking there so lame mostly. This one video, however, is so dumb its cool in my opinion.

Confidence

Confidence, this word is so important in every one's life. Anyone can have confidence, its crucial to be confidant about your material before taking a big test, or asking out that girl you've always thought was cute. Anyone one individual needs to have confidence about something in their life so they can feel good about themselves. A kid may have trouble talking to new people, but if they do well on a test or paper maybe that confidence gained from that could transpire to talking to someone new that day. We as humans like to feel good about certain situations, confidence is the best way to do so.

blog for 10/2

I thought both handouts were very interesting in there own right. Both writers had a special way of catching the readers attention. I'm choosing to write about George Orwell's Animal Farm. I found this speech very eerie, although somewhat entertaining. I've always thought about what would happen if the animals held a revolt, or just an animal in that case. Its like that fear of not knowing what an animal is thinking. Honestly, you could be riding a horse and they could go nuts. You can't live day to day thinking about these things, but you hear stories of animals that were once tame, then that one day out of the blue they just go wild. Now I'm more freaked out because it sounds like they all can communicate and plan together. It's nothing that would ever happen, but it is intriguing to think about.

Semicolon group fun

Well the semicolon my not be the most exciting part of the English language, but we had some fun while doing this project. My group worked really well together. We met at the library twice to knock out our project. I think we all contributed equally and each person brought a good idea to the table. Its difficult planning a ten min project on something so simple, however I'm guessing that's why we get the assignment. I did learn some interesting facts about the semicolon, and now I will use it more often when writing a sentence or paper. Overall I couldn't be more happy with my group and how we worked together.
